Reviews for Coffee Bigaku Abe
Review highlights
Based on 1,121 reviewsCoffee Bigaku Abe in Matsumoto is widely appreciated for its charming, cozy atmosphere and nostalgic European-inspired decor, creating an inviting setting that many find unique and memorable. The café is popular among locals and visitors alike, often busy but manageable outside peak times. Its coffee receives mixed but generally positive feedback, with many praising its quality and the fun of specialty options like ice cream coffee. The breakfast and snack offerings are noted for being affordable, satisfying, and above average in taste, though not considered exceptional by all. Overall, the brand stands out for its ambiance and reasonable pricing rather than standout culinary innovation.
Cute little spot! We came based on an instagram video featuring the ice cream coffee. We ordered BLT and coffee, both of which were fine. The coffee didn’t taste amazing but was great fun! The decor is so cute you feel like you’re in a movie!
This cafe is called Abe's cafe, not far from the station. Reasonable price. Interior decor is European. Food is delicious. I went back to this cafe a second time and ordered more of their breakfast items. Individually, these items cost between 50 to 100 Yen. You write your name on a waitlist and wait outside until you are called. I feel that the food is above average, but not spectacular to the extent that you wait for an hour plus.
Cute little place that may get busy but I was able to be seated immediately mid week mid afternoon. The coffee was amazing and the BLT hot sandwich was delicious. I wanted dessert but was too full! Ground level, easy to find.
Very popular local coffee joint, thought I'll avoid the crowd coming at open, but end up waiting for about 30min for second seating but I think you get less crowded after. Drip coffee place, very cheap food that goes with your coffee, come for the vibe!
If you fancy going back in time and experiencing an enchanting breakfast or lunch accompanied by Baroque music, this is the place for you. The coffee is excellent and the selection of very reasonably priced snacks (we had an omelette and ham sunny side up egg with toast) make for a satisfying start to the day. There is something very nostalgic about this place. Cosy and quaint - some might say twee - but certainly welcoming and relaxing. The staff are all polite and highly efficient. An experience not to be missed for sure. We came twice during our short stay.
The service and the warmth of the owner in this place is truly a gem. Absolutely worth the wait. It's a family-run café, and you can feel the love and care they put into every interaction. They treat every customer like they're walking into their home. I honestly don't know how they maintain such positive energy with so many guests, but it's incredible. Also the prices are great and the atmosphere and decorations of the location is truly beautiful, I highly recommend this cafe. This place is a true blessing!
A rare find cafe which is not only quaint, it has interesting Menu offering customization as breakfast items are individually priced. It has a specialty coffee menu offering Dominican and Kenyan beans via siphon. A breakfast for two should be between ¥2-3k. Deco and atmosphere are great. They controlled the number of clients inside the cafe to ensure optimal relaxing and cozy ambience. Noteworthy: you have to join the queue by writing down your name on the wait list placed outside the restaurant.
Coffee Abe Cafe in Matsumoto is a wonderful spot with excellent coffee and delicious parfaits. The staff are warm and welcoming, making it a comfortable place for foreigners too. Highly recommend for a relaxing break in the city!
